Research participation – Does your child wear hearing devices?

Childhood Listening and Environmental Acoustics in Real-life (CLEAR) Study – National Acoustics Laboratories (NAL)

About the study:

National Acoustic Laboratories (NAL), the research division of Hearing Australia, is inviting families to help them explore how young children (0-6 years old) who are deaf or hard of hearing. Your voices will help shape a new tool that shows how young children experience sound in everyday life- not just in the clinic.

They want to understand:

  • What kinds of everyday sounds are meaningful for families of young children (0-6 years old) who use different types of hearing technology (hearing aids, bone conduction devices, cochlear implants, bimodal users), from a range of hearing differences (single sided-deafness, bilateral hearing losses, sensorineural, conductive, mixed hearing losses)
  • How clinicians seek information from families to inform clinical decisions and support personalised care during hearing appointments
  • Your thoughts on a new tool that captures listening experiences, challenges, and practices – and bringing these insights to your next clinical appointment.

Why join?

Your insights will make the tool family-friendly and useful for audiologists so that young children can get hearing support that fits their daily listening needs. Both yours and your child’s living experience can help shape better support for families everywhere.

Families will receive a $50 or $150 Prezzee e-gift voucher for their time.
