Thank you, Andrew Stewart

After more than 40 years supporting people who are deaf or hard of hearing, Andrew Stewart has announced his retirement.

Andrew has been a valued friend of Aussie Deaf Kids for more than 20 years. Throughout that time, he has generously shared his expertise and lived experience, helping countless families navigate hearing technology with practical advice, encouragement and genuine care. His willingness to answer questions and support parents has made a real difference to many in our community.

Andrew wears two cochlear implants and has ten family members over three generations who wear hearing devices, including both his children. His career spanned over 40 years specialising in hearing augmentation and assistive technology for people with hearing loss, bringing together his and his family’s lived experience of hearing loss together with his technical training. Andrew started Hearing Connections in 2018, and as of 1 July 2026, it has been acquired by Word of Mouth Technology

As Andrew explains, “After over 40 years providing technology and hearing augmentation for people with hearing loss, it is now time for me to retire.”

Reflecting on his career, Andrew said, “I am proud of our contribution, making a positive difference for many people over the years.”

Andrew recorded a webinar titled “FM systems and SoundField in the classroom” for Aussie Deaf Kids in 2023. You can still learn from his wisdom here!

On behalf of everyone at Aussie Deaf Kids, we thank Andrew for his friendship, generosity and dedication to families over so many years. We wish him a long, happy and well-deserved retirement.
