Button cell batteries dumped in landfills will leak toxins into the soil and water supplies. The good news is that they are recyclable, and many places will take your old batteries, such as Hearing Australia, Office Works, watch repairers, and even Woolworths.
So, if you are not already doing so, store your old batteries in a safe place and take them to be recycled.
