We are proud to announce that our CEO and Founder, Ann Porter AM, was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award from Hearing Australia last week for her contributions to families with children who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH).
The Hon Bill Shorten MP, Minister for the NDIS and Government Services presented the 2024 Hearing Australia Lifetime Achievement Award to Ann at the Hearing Australia Leadership Conference Dinner in Sydney last week. Hearing Australia Managing Director Kim Terrell said, “Ann has made a significant contribution to improving the lives of children who are deaf or hard or hearing and their families and has actively worked with us over many years to help improve service delivery. Congratulations Ann!”
Ann expressed her deep gratitude, noting that the award was a reflection of the collective efforts of many.
Her journey began when her daughter was diagnosed with hearing loss, which inspired her to establish Aussie Deaf Kids in 2001. What started as an online support group has grown into a vital resource for thousands of families across the country.
Ann extended heartfelt thanks to her team at Aussie Deaf Kids, the ADK Board, her family, and especially her husband Bruce, for their unwavering support in making the organisation what it is today.
