NDIS 101: Lessons learnt as a Parent & Senior Support Coordinator

This presentation explains the NDIS process in everyday terms, covering some of the fundamentals that are the basis of the system. The language and processes need to be understood by parents and carers to get the best out of the scheme and optimise supports and outcomes for their child.

Ros Wyburn is the mother of three teenagers. Her youngest child has a moderate bilateral sensorineural hearing loss and other complex disabilities. The family’s NDIS involvement started in 2014, fortunately living in the second trial site in NSW. Ros has been working as a Senior Coordinator of Supports (CoS) for the last 4 ½ years, assisting NDIS participants from a wide variety of backgrounds in identifying their support needs, preparing for NDIS plan reviews, and plan implementation. Ros has also been involved with several NDIA policy development working groups as an NDIS participant representative of Aussie Deaf Kids.

This webinar was recorded in 2021. There have been some changes in the NDIS since so please seek advice from your early childhood partner or your local area coordination partner.
