Fathers play an important role in a child's life. You may not go to every hearing test or early intervention session, but the things you do with your child with hearing loss can be just as important. Deaf children need a dad who can be a positive role model, who can play an important part within the family unit, who can make the adjustments that come with having a deaf child, and who is prepared to help their child make the most of their abilities.
“I believe that what we become depends on what our fathers teach us at odd moments, when they aren't trying to teach us. We are formed by little scraps of wisdom.” - Umberto Eco, Foucault's Pendulum
