Congratulations to Associate Professor Jill Duncan on being awarded an Order of Australia medal. Jill has been on the board of Aussie Deaf Kids since 2013 and has been advocating for children who are deaf and hard of hearing and their families her whole working life. She has been an amazing mentor and friend. We couldn’t be prouder of her achievement!
Dr Jill Duncan is an Associate Professor and the University Lead for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at the University of Newcastle. She is not only an academic but also a leader in disability education, working to support children and young people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Her career has also included executive roles in the public service, where she focused on policy and advocacy.
Beyond her university role, she is a long serving non-executive director of Aussie Deaf Kids, Editor-in-Chief of Deafness & Education International, the Deputy Chair of the Disability Council NSW and a member of the NSW Women’s Advisory Council.
