PCDE's Family Fun Day and AGM
Parents and Friends are warmly invited to attend Parent Council for Deaf Education’s Family Fun Day 

Date: Sunday 15th November 2009
Time: Fun starts at 12.30pm
Place: BBQ and pool area, RIDBC, 361 –365 North Rocks Rd NORTH ROCKS

Some of the highlights will be:
  • Novelty pool races for the kids (and their parents! – bring your swimmers)
  • Sausage Sizzle
  • "Breaking the Sound Barriers”Book Launch
PCDE Annual General Meeting will follow these activities at 3.30pm. All welcome.

POD Macarthur morning tea at Australian Hearing
Join us for the last POD meeting for 2009 with your children at Australian Hearing, Liverpool on the 17th November for morning tea !

This will be an opportunity to meet your audiologist for a cuppa and ask any questions you may have. Australian Hearing will also present an information session on their services and the latest technology for your child.
 
Time:        10.30am onwards with morning tea provided

NSW Junior Deaf Tennis Championships
The NSW Junior Deaf Tennis Championships are on again! Whether your aim is to take home a trophy, or simply to enjoy of tennis among friends, this event is one for you.

Date: Saturday November 21st - play starts at 9am
          Sunday November 22nd - play starts at 9am
Events: Boys and Girls (18s and under) - singles and doubles
Place: Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre

Access All Areas Film Festival
The Access All Areas Film Festival tours around NSW during November to Griffith, Wagga Wagga and Orange and culminates in Sydney on International Day of People With a Disability (December 3rd).

The two films (My Year Without Sex and The Boys Are Back) will be captioned, audio described, in wheelchair accessible cinemas with additional space made to accommodate extra wheelchairs and the Q&A sessions will be Auslan Interpreted. Also, it is a FREE event to attend, but we strongly recommend booking with us in advance either via email or by calling the festival office, to ensure a seat!

ATOD celebrates 30 years of performing
Join ATOD and MC, Todd McKenney, in celebrating 30 years of performing and promoting sign language and deaf culture.
Date: Thursday 26th November 2009
Time: 7.00pm

Managing challenging behaviour workshop
Special Education and Disability Services are holding informative & entertaining workshops on challenging behaviour which all parents and service providers can utilise both at home and at work.

Topics include:
  • Types of challenging behaviour
  • What is challenging behaviour?
  • Describing aggressive behaviour
  • Designing a formal positive program
