Early Intervention

Baby in hatEarly intervention begins soon after your baby has been diagnosed with hearing loss.

Early intervention services can help you understand hearing loss and gain confidence as a parent of a deaf child. It also will guide you in identifying your child's strengths and needs and help your child develop important language skills necessary to become part of the larger community.

Better Start funding
From 1 July 2011, children with a four frequency hearing loss of 40dB or greater in the better ear are eligible for to access Better Start funding  – an initiative of the Australian Government. Parents of eligible children will be able to access up to $12,000 (with a maximum of $6,000 per financial year) to pay for certain early intervention services.
