Acquired hearing loss

Prematurity
Premature babies face an increased risk of complications. Some of these complications such as infections, lack of oxygen and jaundice may cause hearing loss. Some medications given to premature babies for these complications may also cause hearing loss.

Noise
Hearing loss can occur when there is damage to the  the inner ear from an explosion near the ear, gunshots, or long exposure to loud noises (such as loud music or loud machinery).
