The hearing loss is acquired when the baby or child develops the hearing loss after birth. Prematurity Premature babies face an increased risk of complications. Some of these complications such as infections, lack of oxygen and jaundice may cause hearing loss. Some medications given to premature babies for these complications may also cause hearing loss.
